Quick Start

Get Aether365 running in under 5 minutes.

Step 1: Create an account

Go to app.aether365.io and click Sign in with Microsoft. Aether365 uses Microsoft as the identity provider - no separate password is needed.

When you sign in for the first time, Aether365 creates your account automatically. You will be asked to select a data region (EU or US). This choice is permanent and determines where your scan data is stored.

Step 2: Connect your tenant

After signing in, the dashboard shows an onboarding card prompting you to connect your first Microsoft 365 tenant. Click Connect your Microsoft 365 tenant to start.

You can also navigate to Connect in the sidebar at any time.

You will be redirected to the Microsoft admin consent screen. Sign in as a Global Administrator of the tenant you want to connect and approve the requested permissions.

Admin consent required

Only a Global Administrator can grant the permissions Aether365 needs. If you are not a Global Admin, share the consent link with someone who is.

Once consent is granted, you are redirected back to Aether365 and your tenant appears on the Connect page. You can assign it a custom label for easy identification.

For a detailed walkthrough of the consent flow and permissions, see Connect a Tenant.

Step 3: Run your first scan

With your tenant connected, click Run Scan in the top-right of the dashboard. A dropdown offers three options:

  • Compliance scan - checks against CIS, EIDSCA, and CISA frameworks
  • Exposure scan - analyzes risky configurations across M365 services
  • Full scan - runs both compliance and exposure simultaneously

Select a scan type. The scan starts immediately and appears on the dashboard with a pulsing indicator showing it is in progress.

TIP

If your plan does not include on-demand scans, the Run Scan button shows a lock icon with an upgrade prompt.

Step 4: Review results

Scans typically complete in 10 to 15 minutes. You will receive an email when results are ready, or you can check the dashboard - the active scan banner updates to show completion.

Click into the completed scan to see:

  • A large security posture score (compliance) or risk overview (exposure)
  • A framework selector (compliance: CIS, EIDSCA, CISA) or service selector (exposure: Entra ID, Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, Defender, Intune, M365)
  • Individual check results grouped by section, each showing pass/fail status, severity, and control ID
  • Remediation guidance for every failed check (available on Pro and Enterprise plans)

You can download a full report using the Download button in the scan detail header.

That is it. Aether365 will now run scans automatically on a recurring schedule based on your plan.
