Setting Up Microsoft Teams Alerts

Aether365 can post a message to a Microsoft Teams channel when a scan completes or fails. This feature is available on Pro and Enterprise plans.

How it works

Aether365 uses an incoming webhook URL to post messages to a Teams channel. You create the webhook in Teams and paste the URL into Aether365.

The Teams message includes:

  • Scan type and tenant name
  • Security score
  • Pass, fail, and skip counts
  • A severity breakdown
  • A direct link to the full results in the dashboard

Step 1: Create a Teams webhook

Microsoft is deprecating the legacy Office 365 Connectors in Teams. Use the Workflows approach for new setups:

  1. In the Teams channel, click ... > Workflows
  2. Search for and select Post to a channel when a webhook request is received
  3. Click Add workflow and follow the prompts
  4. Copy the webhook URL from the final step

Using legacy Connectors

If your tenant still has legacy Connectors available:

  1. In Microsoft Teams, open the channel where you want to receive alerts
  2. Click the ... menu next to the channel name
  3. Select Connectors (or Manage channel > Connectors depending on your Teams version)
  4. Find Incoming Webhook and click Add
  5. Give the webhook a name (e.g. "Aether365") and optionally upload an icon
  6. Click Create
  7. Copy the webhook URL that appears

Both webhook URL formats work with Aether365.

Step 2: Add the webhook to Aether365

  1. Navigate to Notifications in the sidebar (under the Settings section)
  2. Under Teams notifications, paste the webhook URL
  3. Click Save

Step 3: Configure trigger events

Below the webhook URL field, choose which events send a Teams message:

  • On scan complete - post when any scan finishes successfully
  • On scan failure - post when a scan fails

Both are enabled by default once a webhook URL is saved.

Testing the webhook

To verify the webhook is working, trigger a manual scan from the dashboard. A Teams message should appear within a few seconds of the scan completing.

If you do not see a message, check:

  1. The webhook URL was copied correctly (no trailing spaces)
  2. The Workflow or Connector is still active in Teams
  3. The Teams channel still exists and the webhook has not been deleted

Removing the webhook

To stop Teams notifications:

  1. Navigate to Notifications in the sidebar
  2. Clear the webhook URL field
  3. Click Save
